DocketBird integrates with Litify, so that documents filed in your cases will instantly appear in your Litify Docrio File Cabinet.

Here's how to configure the integration:

STEP 1: Obtain Your Salesforce Domain URL

DocketBird will need to know your Salesforce Domain URL to communicate with your Litify Account. To get the domain, follow these steps:

  1. Using your Litify administrator account, log in to Litify. Important: you must use your administrator account; normal user accounts will not work.

  2. Click the gear icon in the upper-right corner of the screen, and then click "Setup."

  3. In the search bar at the top of the screen, type "Domain" and then click on "My Domain"

  4. Your domain URL will be listed next to "Current My Domain URL." Copy your url and save it; you'll need it later.

STEP 2: Create the DocketBird Connected Application.

So that DocketBird can communicate with your SalesForce environment, you'll need to create a Connected Application. Here's how to do it:

  1. In your Litify administrator account, click the gear icon in the upper-right corner of the screen, and then click "Setup."

  2. In the search bar at the top of the screen, type "App," and then click on "App Manager."

  3. In the upper-right corner of the screen, click "New Connected App."

  4. Fill in the blanks as follows:
    โ€‹

    Connected App Name: DocketbirdConnectedApp
    API Name: DocketBirdConnectedApp
Contact Email: << your email address >>
  5. Make sure "Enable OAuth Settings" is checked.

  6. For "Callback URL," enter "https://www.docketbird.com/litify"

  7. Under "Available OAuth Scopes," you'll need to highlight the following, and click the right arrow "Add" icon to add them to the right column:

    1. Manage user data via APIs (api)

    2. Perform requests at any time (refresh_token, offline_access)

  8. Uncheck the box next to "Require Proof Key for Code Exchange (PKCE) Extension for Supported Authorization Flows.

  9. Scroll to the bottom of the screen, and click "Save"

  10. You'll see a notice saying that changes can take 10 minutes. Click "Continue."

  11. On the next screen, under the "API (Enable OAuth Settings)" section, click the "Manage Consumer Details" button. You may be prompted to re-authenticate. If so, go ahead and do so.

  12. The next screen should be titled "DocketBirdConnectedApp." You will see two fields: (i) Consumer Key; and (ii) Consumer Secret. Copy each of these fields and save them somewhere; you'll need them later.

STEP 3: Configure Refresh Token Settings

So that DocketBird can access your Litify account when your documents are filed, you'll need to configure your refresh token settings.

  1. If you just completed the last step, you may see a "Home" tab near the upper-left part of the screen. If so, click on it.

  2. Click the gear icon in the upper-right corner of the screen, and then click "Setup."

  3. In the search bar at the top of the screen, enter "Apps," and select "Manage Connected Apps."

  4. Scroll down to DocketBirdConnectedApp, and then click the "Edit" link to the left of it.

  5. On the next page, click the "Edit Policies" button near the top of the screen.

  6. On the right-hand side of the next screen, find the section entitled "Refresh Token Policy." Select "Refresh token is valid until revoked."

  7. Scroll to the bottom of the screen, and click the "Save" button

STEP 4: Configure Your Folder Creation Permissions

So that DocketBird can create folders in your Litify account, you'll need to configure your account to ensure that you have permissions to create folders.

  1. Navigate to Docrio. Click the icon of 9 dots in the upper-left corner of the screen, and then click "View All." You should then see a link for "Docrio." Click that.

  2. At the top of the screen, click "Docrio Admin Settings"

  3. On the left side of the screen, click "Folder Actions."

  4. In the middle column, scroll down to "System Administrator," and click it.

  5. In the right column, make sure "Create Folder" is checked.

STEP 5: Give DocketBird Necessary Permissions

Finally, you'll need to finalize the integration by giving DocketBird the information it needs to communicate with the connected app you just created.

  1. Complete the form. Be sure to enter the Salesforce Domain URL, Consumer Key and Consumer Secret that you obtained in Step 1 above.

  2. Your browser will navigate to Salesforce, so that you can give DocketBird the necessary permissions.

  3. You should see a message stating that the integration is complete.

STEP 6: Connect Your DocketBird Cases to Corresponding Litify Matters

The final step is to connect your DocketBird cases to the corresponding Litify matters. Please keep the following in mind:

  • When you connect a matter, DocketBird will create a "DocketBird" folder in the root directory of the corresponding Litify matter on Docrio. All case documents will then be synced to that folder. If you want your DocketBird folders to appear in a different directory (e.g., "/Smith v. Jones/Litigation Documents/DocketBird"), we can make it happen! Just contact us for support.

  • If you make a mistake, you can just disconnect the Litify matter. When you do that, we won't delete anything; if you want to delete the DocketBird folder that we already created, please do so manually on Docrio.

  • Each Litify matter can be connected to only one case, and each case can be connected to only one Litify matter.

  • If you run into trouble, please reach out to us for support. We'd love to help!
